The Fear of Mediocrity

Its supremely ironical that sometimes the “Fear of Mediocrity” holds us back from rising above the levels of what we think is “good enough in its own right” but is actually just another level of mediocrity!
There a times when we try to shy away from ‘the next best thing’ because we fear that we might as well turn out to be ‘The Mediocre’ and we easily chose ‘our comfort pad’ because its somehow easier to excel in there. But then to not even try to rise above our predefined, time tested levels .. isn’t this the classic example, a predefined formula, of being a mediocre?
Shouldn’t we at least give it a try? If only, to tell ourselves that we aren’t really “give-uppers” (if such a word even exists :P)

Rest is all up to God, the Almighty.

Besides, are we such a mediocre that we can’t even do something we have absolutely decided to do?

*Now, before some of you, as always, start to wonder how such profound thoughts are flowing out of the pens of the girl who looks so inconsequential, and is actually so trivial and immature; let me tell you that Enrique inspires these great thoughts in me :)

The way he ventured out of his ‘comfort pad’ with his album ‘Euphoria’ is truly very highly inspiring.! He traded his simple love ballads (which had outlived there shelf life and wasn’t really gelling with the current music scene) for a more upbeat, more modern style, branching out, experimenting with different genres like rap (with Pitbull), Hip-hop (‘Push’ from Insomniac) and others.
A lot of hard work has gone into creating music that is decidedly ‘different’ from Enrique v.1.
The subject however remains the same : L0VE. :D B-)

After all, if it’s not love, how are we to recognize that its 0ur Supern0va? ;)

The move invited a lot of ire from people who call him ‘his great fans’, for they missed the ‘old’ style of Enrique. These fans, I think, totally missed the point. Or they weren’t really great fans. For Enrique retains his ‘trademark’, his quality, his ‘ooh yeahs’, his ‘oh no’s!’and ‘yeaaahs’ in ‘Euphoria’.
His ‘Ennrique-ness’ which all of us *real*fans hold very dear and close to our hearts, is very much still there.

He couldn’t take in mediocrity after tasting Success, after being the best, realized that he was somehow falling into that vicious trap of making oneself believe that ‘my mediocre place is good enough’. He woke to a realization that he is somehow falling behind and he did all it took to rise above.. to be the best.. and not just ‘the next best’..

He realized, as he says:

“We know we got what it takes to make it”

…and if this is how we proceed.. indeed,

“In the end, Everything’s Gonna Be Alright” :)
